The Summer of 2015 is winding down, and The Panthers are all creeping off from the beaches, shaking the sand out of their fur, and gathering inside Panther’s Lair where it’s air-conditioned. Expect the usual “two (or three) guys bullshitting” humor you’ve come to love and miss, plus some Very Big Book Announcements.

Mike has a new book of comic essays entitled Rules For Dating My Daughter that he would love if you could help fund.

Rules-600

Alex’s new book from Top Shelf, Our Expanding Universe is due to drop in November!

Universe-600

And, The Desert Panther, Tony Consiglio, also has a brand new omnibus of all of his Double-Cross comics available somewhere on amazon, but not yet publicly. Look out for it, it’s called Tony Consiglio’s Double-Cross Collection, so you know what you’re getting!

See you in the Winter.

It’s a Special Episode of The Ink Panthers Show! as Mike and Alex creep nervously back into Panther’s Lair to discuss Mike’s new book, Angie Bongiolatti. They have a fun insightful conversation about all the heavy political aspects of the book, as well as all the sex scenes. The Panthers talk about the creative process, getting at what’s really rewarding about writing long-form comics (hint: it’s not the part when you’re done with them), as well as a few announcements, including information on Mike’s new(ish) podcast.

Don’t worry, after all the comics chat, there’s a few minutes leftover in the show to get down to some Classic Panthers Slushery. Easter egg hunt stampedes, strange encounters on the subway, a city of Hobo’s toilets. Man, we missed these guys!!

It’s a special episode this week, as Mike finds himself on the PRO T.I.P.S. couch, talking to Alex about his new graphic novel, Troop 142. After Mike overcomes some initial un-comfortableness about answering questions, the Panthers settle into a rhythm, and have a pretty good chat about the origins of the book, Boy Scouts, drug use, autobiography, and male friendship. And remember, Troop 142 ships to finer comic stores everywhere on Wednesday, so keep an eye out for it, won’t you?

I’ve begun putting up pages from my new comic, Troop 142. Right now I’ve got the prologue chapter, SUNDAY, posted, and have started putting up pages from the first chapter, cleverly titled MONDAY. I’ve got more of this book done, but a lot of it’s in various states of completion. My plan is to post the material as it gets finished.

I believe I talked on an episode of the podcast about how this particular story has been a bit of a stop-and-start struggle for me. My thinking is that putting the material out there will help me get over some of my mental blocks. I really want to avoid getting into the habit of continually restarting, which is something that’s happened a few times already.

Plus, I’d like everyone to have a chance to check out all my pretty pictures! :)

I should also add, the content is sort-of, kind-of, “Mature audiences”. It’s not too bad, yet, but is definitely a little coarser than Freddie & Me.

Hey, if you didn’t pick up my book, ACE-FACE yet, when I mentioned it was on sale at the publisher’s website for $4.95 last month, then you should totally for real order a copy of it now, because it’s been discounted further, along with a ton of other great AdHouse books. Now you can get it for a mere $3.95.

Come on, seriously now, this is good value. The book is 100 pages long! It features three stories starring the titular character, plus two Jack & Max shorts, and more. Longtime fans of the Ink Panthers Show! will enjoy the slice of life comics, where someone who looks and sounds a lot like me has to deal with noisy neighbors on his front steps…

Alex’s new book has been published this week. Look for it in finer bookstores, and consider picking a copy up for the little kid in your life. We’ll be recording a Special Christmas Episode in the coming week or so, where we’ll do nothing but discuss this book, so keep an eye out for that.

Read a preview.
